The Union Territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu merged into a single UT on 26 January 2020. DNH Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (DNHPDCL), originally founded in 2012 to serve DNH, was restructured and renamed DNH & DD Power Corporation Ltd, retaining only the transmission function (220/66 kV substations and solar generation) as a 100% UT-owned entity.
From 1 April 2022, retail distribution and billing across the whole merged UT moved to a new joint-venture company, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (DNHDDPDCL), with Torrent Power holding 51% and the UT administration the remaining 49% — one of the first Indian Union Territories to privatise its power distribution business. The venture serves roughly 150,000 customers.
Does one company handle both Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu?
