Your DISCOM depends on your city, not just "UPPCL"
Bills are issued by one of five UPPCL subsidiaries — PuVVNL, MVVNL, PVVNL, DVVNL or KESCO — based on where you live. All five follow the same UPERC tariff, but customer service, portals and local offices differ by subsidiary.
The fixed charge scales with sanctioned load
At ₹110 per kW, a higher sanctioned load (useful for ACs, geysers or motors) raises your fixed charge regardless of how many units you actually consume that month.
Rural rates are different and not modelled here
This calculator uses the urban LMV-1 schedule. Rural domestic connections follow a separate UPERC tariff not covered by this calculator yet.

One state, five DISCOMs, one tariff
Uttar Pradesh distributes power through five companies, but they share a single UPERC rate schedule, so these urban LMV-1 rates apply statewide. Rural domestic tariffs differ and are not covered here.
Fixed charge is per kilowatt of load
Unlike Tamil Nadu's flat phase-based charge, UPPCL levies its fixed charge at ₹110 per kW of sanctioned load per month — so a 3 kW connection pays ₹330 fixed before a single unit is billed. A ₹20 meter rent and a ₹0.15/unit regulatory true-up also apply.
Telescopic energy slabs
Energy is charged telescopically: ₹5.50 for the first 150 units, then ₹6.00, ₹6.50 and ₹7.00, plus 5% electricity duty on the energy charge.

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) was incorporated on 30 November 1999 and commenced business on 15 January 2000, as part of the unbundling of the Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Board (UPSEB) into separate transmission/distribution and generation entities.
UPPCL bills consumers through five regional subsidiaries: Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (PuVVNL), Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (MVVNL), Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (PVVNL), Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (DVVNL), and Kanpur Electricity Supply Company (KESCO) for the Kanpur Municipal Corporation area specifically. All follow the same UPERC-approved tariff.
Does UPPCL supply Lucknow and Kanpur?
Both cities are covered, but by different UPPCL subsidiaries. Lucknow falls under Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (MVVNL), while Kanpur is served by its own dedicated subsidiary, the Kanpur Electricity Supply Company (KESCO) — both bill on the same UPERC tariff shown on this page.

No. All five UP DISCOMs follow the same UPERC-approved LMV-1 schedule, so the urban domestic rates are identical statewide.
How is the UPPCL fixed charge calculated?

Does this cover rural connections?
No. These are urban LMV-1 domestic rates. Rural/BPL schedules differ and are not modelled here yet.
What extra charges appear on a UP bill?
Besides energy and the per-kW fixed charge, expect a ₹20 meter rent, a ₹0.15/unit regulatory true-up and 5% electricity duty.
Does UPPCL supply Kanpur directly?
Not directly — Kanpur is served by the Kanpur Electricity Supply Company (KESCO), a UPPCL subsidiary dedicated to the Kanpur Municipal Corporation area, while the other four regions (Lucknow/Ayodhya, Meerut/Moradabad, Agra/Aligarh, Varanasi/Gorakhpur) are served by MVVNL, PVVNL, DVVNL and PuVVNL respectively — all under the same UPERC tariff.
